Urad Gota is whole black gram without skin, it originated in India where it has been in cultivation from ancient times and is a highly prized pulse. This type of bean that is very similar to the mung bean and is a common ingredient for Indian cooking. A staple dish in North Indian Cooking that uses this bean is Dal Makhani (Butter lentils). In the South it's a common ingredient in batter for making Idli’s & Dosa’s. It is a very nutritious, high in protein, Folate, Iron & Magnesium.
