Garam Masala

Traditionally from Northern Indian, garam masala is a staple spice in Indian cookery. Garam, when translated means “warm” best describes the properties of the blend. Warming ingredients such as cinnamon, mace and ginger give garam masala a mellow, appealing aroma. It is an essential ingredient when making sauces for meat and poultry dishes, as well as a great companion to vegetables and lentils recipes.

Cauliflower with Ginger Recipe - Serves 3

Method of Preparation:

1. Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds and diced onion and fry for 5 minutes.

2. Add the Rani Garam Masala Paste and Ginger and saute for 3 minutes.

3. Add the cauliflower florets and cook covered on a low heat for 15 minutes, or until cooked. (Sprinkle in some water if the mixture begins to stick)

4. Add the fresh coriander and time juice and mix well and serve.



  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 150 cauliflower florets
  • 50g onion diced
  • 1 tbsp Rani Garam Masala Paste
  • 1/2 tsbp ginger, chopped
  • 1/2 tsbp fresh coriander, chopped
  • a splash of the juice of the lime
  • 1/4 tsbp cumin seeds
